Viken Berberian is the author of the novels The Cyclist (S&S) and Das Kapital (S&S), and with Yann Kebbi, of the graphic novel, The Structure is Rotten, Comrade (Fantagraphics, 2019). His short stories and essays have appeared in the New York Review of BooksBOMB, Granta, the Financial Times, the International Herald Tribune, The Nation, Foreign Affairs, and the New York Times. Born in Beirut and raised in Los Angeles, he wrote The Cyclist in New York, Das Kapital in Marseille, and, The Structure is Rotten, Comrade in Paris, Montréal, and Yerevan. His writing has received recognition from France’s Centre National du Livre, the Canada Council for the Arts, Conseils des Arts et des Lettres du Québec, and Soros Foundations. He read his first comics in French and Armenian.
